Albertus Airport has been in operation since 1945. It offers one hard surface runway large enough to handle any Corporate Jet. The runway is 5,500 feet long by 100 feet wide and grooved full length, with (Vor, GPS, and Loc/DME) instrument approaches available. A full ILS approach system with MALSAR approach lights is scheduled to be installed by fall 2006.

Additionally, the airport offers two grass runways which are great for the smaller general aviation aircraft. With three runways, you can always choose one that’s close into the wind without having to fight a crosswind landing.

Currently, the airport has 86 based aircraft, ranging from ultralights to gliders to jets.

A full range of services are available at the airport. Both 100LL avgas and Jet-A fuel are available. Freeport is one of the best General Aviation Maintenance Facilities in the area. We also have a very active Flight School, with a (CATS) Written Testing Center and Pilot Examiner available right here.

New corporate size hangars, large enough to house most smaller corporate Turbo Prop and Jet Aircraft, are planned to be built by spring 2007. We have expanded land ownership around the airport, so we have room to build any size corporate hangar that may be needed.

Current Airport Manger, Darrell Janssen operated the airport from January 1984 to May of 1992. In 1997, he returned to manage the airport..

In addition to being the City’s Airport Manager, he operates his own business as an (FBO) Fixed Based Operator, providing all aviation services at the airport under the name of Freeport Flite Center. The entire staff at Freeport Flite Center is very aviation knowledgeable and ready to serve you.
